Along with Highland and Seneca Parks, Genesee Valley Park was designed by famed landscape architect Frederic Law Olmsted. Olmsted highlighted the naturally occurring, rolling pastoral fields of the area when he planned the 800+ acre park. A favorite spot for golfers, crew teams, kayakers, and cross-country skiers, Genesee Valley Park is one of the oldest parks in the area.
The Genesee River Trail runs along both sides of the river leading from Center City Rochester to Genesee Valley Park. From there you can continue east along the Erie Canal to Palmyra (or beyond); or west as far as Lockport, if you have it in you.
